Clarissa Fermin, Owner/Executive Director

Clarissa holds various art and design background in Interior Architecture, Web Design and Multi-Media from the Academy of Art University and Far Eastern University. She also holds a certificate in AutoCAD and Studio Viz from San Francisco State University. "I love it when the kids' face light up when I let them know that we're working on an art project that they will enjoy. KidzArt has one of the best programs and curriculum out there and also meets the National Standards in Art Education. KidzArt is a confidence-building art enrichment program that allows us to reach out to all ages and all members of the community especially young children - so no one is left out. It doesn't matter whether you have an art background or not or whether or not you can draw. Art is a universal language and it is an experience that everyone will enjoy and that is what makes me want to continue to do this."

Mike Fermin Sr, Co-Owner/Events Coordinator

Mike recently retired from the City of Berkeley as a Supervisor from the Public Works Department. He is a practicing martial artist for 40 years. He currently teaches martial arts and enjoys building and construction. "I don't have a formal art education but I believe in the discipline that it teaches similar to how we discipline our students in martial arts. KidzArt breaks down the process just like how we teach our katas in karate until you come to a final product that is the culmination of that entire artistic process. Every drawing by every child is different. I believe in the method and I enjoy seeing the kids having a great time in their art classes."
